Each piece of Little Glam jewelry is hand-finished with high-quality materials, designed for everyday wear. Most of our jewelry is crafted from 925 sterling silver, plated with 14k yellow gold or 14k rose gold, or solid gold adorned with natural gemstones. With proper care, your jewelry can last a lifetime or beyond.
Jewelry Materials
-
925 Sterling Silver
925 sterling silver is an alloy made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% copper. Unlike pure silver, which is soft and difficult to shape, sterling silver is harder and perfect for jewelry making.
-
Gold-plated Sterling Silver
Our gold-plated sterling silver jewelry features at least 3 layers of 14K gold or rose gold coating over a sterling silver base. This enhances durability and ensures long-lasting color and shine, making our delicate pieces perfect for everyday wear.
-
Solid Gold
Pure gold (24k) is too soft to work with, which is why alloys are added to make it more structurally sound and easier to handle. The combination of pure gold and alloys creates solid gold (10k and 14k gold available at Little Glam), which is less prone to scratching and more durable, perfect for an active lifestyle.
Natural Gemstones
A gemstone is not just a piece of mineral crystal; each type has its own unique characteristics, providing different benefits and properties to your life. We offer jewelry with natural gemstones in various shades and sizes. These gemstones are highly valued for their beauty, longevity, and rarity.
Care Tips for Natural Gemstones:
1. Clean Gently: To maintain the beauty and sparkle of your natural gemstones and gem-studded jewelry, scrub them gently using a soft-bristled brush and warm water mixed with a few drops of detergent-free soap. Then, rinse them in a bowl of warm water to avoid the risk of losing any gems, and dry them with a soft microfiber cloth.
2. Avoid Chemicals: Keep your gem-studded jewelry away from chemicals, including everyday items like perfumes, hairsprays, cosmetics, and lotions, not just strong acids.
3. Store Properly: As not all natural gems have the same degree of hardness, store your gem-studded jewelry separately in a dark, dry place. It's best to use an airtight container with a fabric lining when not worn to protect them from the elements of daily exposure.
Jewelry Care
-
Avoid Water
Remove your silver jewelry before washing hands, swimming or showering. While pure water does not damage sterling silver, most water we come into contact with may contain chemicals that cause oxidation on sterling silver.
-
Avoid Cosmetics
Remove jewelry before putting on makeup, applying lotion, perfumes, or hair care products as chemicals can damage it. Always put on your jewelry last when getting dressed.
-
Avoid Sweat
Remove jewelry before exercising or engaging in any demanding physical work, as sweat can cause silver jewelry to tarnish.
-
Don’t Sleep with Jewelry
Jewelry is delicate. Remove it before sleeping to protect it from potential damage.
-
Proper Cleaning
Use a soft, dry microfiber cloth to buff your jewelry without scratching it after every use. To remove dust and body oil, mix warm water with a few drops of detergent-free soap. Soak the jewelry for a minute, then gently scrub it with a soft-bristled brush. Rinse with warm water and dry with a soft microfiber cloth. For tarnished sterling silver jewelry, gently polish with a silver cloth. Avoid using chemical cleaners on gold-plated jewelry, as they may remove the gold plating.
-
Proper Storage
Store your silver jewelry in a dark, dry place when not worn to protect it from the elements of daily exposure. Use an airtight container such as an airtight jewelry box, tarnish-resistant pouch, or plastic zip lock bag to slow down tarnishing.
